Serious Crash in Marion County Leaves One Driver Trapped

MCFR Rescues Driver Trapped in Fort McCoy Crash

On September 8, 2024, at 5:33 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 13000 block of Northeast Highway 315, Fort McCoy. Multiple 911 callers reported a collision that left vehicles blocking traffic and debris scattered across the roadway.

Firefighters from Fort McCoy Station #7 arrived at 5:38 p.m. to find a two-vehicle accident with two patients, one of whom was trapped in the wreckage. Battalion Chief #1 took command, directing Engine #7 and Engine #1 in the rescue operation. The crews successfully freed the entrapped driver at 6:12 p.m. The patient was declared a Trauma Alert and transported to a nearby trauma hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
