Fifth Time’s (Not) the Charm: Woman Faces DUI, License Woes in Marion County
In a tale as old as time, Marion County deputies nabbed 61-year-old Debbie Roundtree for her fifth DUI after spotting her gray Infiniti SUV with a broken tag light on September 14th. After being pulled over, Roundtree initially claimed she was Debbie Roberts, then switched things up and said she was Sekina James. Spoiler alert: she wasn’t.
Turns out, Ms. Roundtree has had her license revoked since 2016, following a career of collecting DUIs like stamps—four to be exact. Naturally, she didn’t let a small detail like a permanently revoked license stop her from hitting the road again. Deputy Weaver noted the aroma of a liquid lunch on her breath, paired with a treasure trove of empty Natural Light cans in the car, which didn’t help her case.
A field sobriety test? Not quite her forte. She mixed up her steps, swayed through her one-leg stand, and missed her nose more than once during the finger-to-nose test. She capped off the evening with a refusal to take a breathalyzer test, something she’s got experience with—having refused twice before.
Roundtree was booked into the Marion County Jail, where a fresh charge list awaits. Lesson of the day: when you’ve been convicted of four DUIs, it might be time to call a cab.
