Hot Property: NE Ocala Home Catches Fire Mid-Construction

November 4, 2024 – Late Monday evening, Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) and Ocala Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in northeast Ocala. At 9:55 p.m., units were dispatched to a residence under construction in the 3200 block of NE 35th Place after a 911 caller reported heavy smoke and flames.

The first crew on the scene, MCFR’s Anthony Station #1, arrived within minutes at 10:01 p.m., finding the building approximately 50% involved. A 360-degree assessment conducted by Engine #1’s Company Officer revealed extensive fire damage at the rear of the house, with signs of a possible collapse.

Reinforcements from MCFR stations, including Rolling Greens Station #28, Golden Ocala Station #20, and Sparr Station #19, joined forces with Ocala Fire Rescue’s Engine #3 and Engine #5 to tackle the blaze. Crews deployed hose lines and took a defensive approach, containing the fire by 10:12 p.m.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
