February is Fair Time: FFA Students Prepare to Tackle Southeastern Youth Fair 

The Southeastern Youth Fair is ramping up for an action-packed February, with a full schedule of events that promise something for everyone. Here’s what you can look forward to: 

• February 18 kicks things off with exhibit drop-off for Animal Fever, Home Show, Sewing, Kitchen, Photography, and Watch Me Grow from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Southeastern Auditorium – North Hall. At the same time, the Conservation Tray set-up will take place in the South Hall. 

• On February 19, get ready for the Tablescaping Contest from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Southeastern Auditorium – South Hall. You can also check out Club Exhibit and Hay Bale set-ups throughout the day. These exhibits will be ready for viewing by 8 p.m. 

• February 20 features more drop-off opportunities, including exhibits for Horticulture and Garden from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Southeastern Auditorium – North Hall. Meanwhile, the Chicken/ Rabbit Barn will be busy with check-ins for chickens and rabbits, and the mandatory Lamb/Goat Weigh-in will take place at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion from 4 to 6:30 p.m. 

• February 21 will be a day full of action, starting with the Lamb Show at 9 a.m. at the Outdoor/Covered Arena. The Goat Show follows at 2:00 p.m., and there’s something for the younger crowd too— the Kiddie Goat Show at 5:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., put on your dancing shoes and join in the Barn Dance at the Outdoor/ Covered Arena. 

• February 22 starts bright and early with Chicken Judging at 8:00 a.m. at the Chicken/Rabbit Barn, followed by the Dog Skill-a-thon from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the North Covered Arena. The Beef Heifer Weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion, followed by a series of meetings and skillathons. 

• On February 23, don’t miss the Chicken/Rabbit Showmanship & Skillathon from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Chicken/Rabbit Barn. At the same time, the Beef Heifer Show will take place at the Outdoor/Covered Arena. If you’re into plants, the Plant ID Competition runs from 12 to 2 p.m. behind the center stands at the Outdoor Arena. 

• February 24 brings more excitement with the Steer Check-in and Weigh-in from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion. After the weigh-in, head over to the Indoor Sales Arena for the Steer Mandatory Meeting and Skillathon. The Watch-Me-Grow Check-in and Worksheet Turn-in runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Chicken/Rabbit Barn. 

At 5 p.m., it’s time for the Proclamations and SEYF Dedication Ceremony at the Outdoor/Covered Arena, followed by awards for multiple categories. The Steer Show begins at 6 p.m. 

• February 25 starts with the Steer Showmanship competition at 10:00 a.m. at the Outdoor/Covered Arena, followed by the Beef BBQ Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at the South side of the arena. At 5:30 p.m., stick around for the Steer & Beef Heifer Awards Ceremony, and then the Steer Auction at 6:00 p.m. 

• February 26 offers the Tractor Driving Contest from 9 a.m. at the North Covered Arena. The Bar-b-q Contest will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the South side of the Outdoor/Covered Arena. Later in the day, the Livestock Judging Contest will take place from 3:00 p.m., and the Rabbit & Chicken Breed ID Contest will be at the Chicken/Rabbit Barn from 4 to 6 p.m. 

• On February 27, Swine Check-in and Weigh-in is from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion. The Swine Mandatory Meeting and Skillathon follow shortly after. At 5:00 p.m., the Speech Contest takes center stage at the Southeastern Auditorium. 

• The Swine Showmanship competition will take place on February 28 starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Outdoor/Covered Arena, followed by the “Vintage” Alumni Showmanship for $20 cash. The day will end with the Swine Show at 6:00 p.m.
