Wawa Bandit Busted: Woman Caught Lying, Stealing, and Salading on the Run

A woman with a history of retail theft tried to dodge deputies Sunday by giving multiple false names, but the jig was up when her real identity—along with $40 in cash and her own driver’s license—was found in her wallet.

Marion County deputies responded to a theft at the Wawa on SW Highway 484, where store manager David Ryan Jupina reported a woman in pink pajama pants had helped herself to an assortment of snacks and drinks before leaving without paying. The suspect, initially identifying herself as “Hailey Marie Bradley,” was found sitting in a 2019 Nissan Frontier, surrounded by the loot: two fountain drinks, a Caesar salad, pineapple, and two packs of hard-boiled eggs.

When deputies ran the name she provided, it didn’t match up. After a few rounds of verbal gymnastics, she switched it up, claiming to be “Danielle Marie Duval.” A records search revealed the truth—she was actually Danielle Marie Colon, 36, and had an active warrant for two prior theft charges.

Colon finally admitted to the ruse, telling deputies she was “scared” and that they were “scary.” She also admitted to stealing a “Polar Pop,” a popular nickname for the fountain drink. Deputies recovered most of the stolen items, except for the Caesar salad, which had already been eaten and discarded in the store’s trash can.

A juvenile passenger in the car, seemingly unimpressed with Colon’s criminal craft, later informed law enforcement that the suspect “gave a wrong name like seven times.”

Despite having cash and an EBT card on hand, Colon now faces new charges of retail petit theft, providing a false name to law enforcement, and her outstanding warrant.

As for Wawa, the store confirmed a total loss of $17.14, with the salad serving as both the most expensive item stolen—and the only one successfully consumed before her arrest.
