The City of Belleview is excited to announce the next Storytime with the Mayor event, presented by SouthState Bank, on Tuesday, March 4, at 5:00 PM at the Belleview Community Center. This free, family-friendly event offers a fun blend of storytelling, light refreshments, and an opportunity for children to interact with kittens available for adoption.
Mayor Christine Dobkowski will be reading The Shy Little Kitten, a heartwarming tale of friendship and courage. Following the story, children will have the special opportunity to meet and cuddle with kittens provided by the Humane Society of Marion County — and families considering pet adoption may even find their newest furry family member.
A light dinner of pizza will be provided for all attendees, ensuring a cozy and enjoyable experience for families.
“Storytime with the Mayor is such a special event for our community,” said Robert Vass, Events and Promotions Manager for the City of Belleview. “It brings families together, encourages a love of reading, and this year, adds a sweet opportunity to connect with adorable kittens in need of loving homes. It’s more than just a story — it’s a chance for children to interact with their local government, see their mayor in a fun and relatable way, and even experience the joy of possibly welcoming a new pet into their family. Events like this strengthen the bonds within our community and create lasting memories for everyone involved.”
The event is part of the City’s ongoing effort to create meaningful, engaging programs for residents of all ages. “We’re always looking for ways to offer events that are not only fun but also foster a sense of community,” said Angilia Pittsley, who oversees the program for the City of Belleview. “Storytime with the Mayor brings together reading, family, and community engagement in a special way. With the support of SouthState Bank, the Humane Society of Marion County, and Graphicten, we’re able to make this event even more impactful. It’s heartwarming to see local businesses and organizations come together to support such a positive experience for our families.”
