Class Dismissed: Marion County Superintendent Steps Down

Marion County’s top educator is turning in her final assignment.

Superintendent Dr. Diane Gullett has announced she will step down on July 11, 2025, wrapping up five years in the role.  Dr. Gullett took the helm in 2020, guiding the district through both challenges and growth. In her resignation letter, she expressed gratitude for the experience, saying, “It has been a true honor to serve this community and the amazing people who dedicate themselves to supporting our students.”

She did not give a specific reason for her departure but emphasized her commitment to a smooth transition so the district can continue moving forward.

The Marion County School Board will soon begin the search for her successor, aiming to build on the foundation she helped establish.

As Dr. Gullett prepares to leave, the focus shifts to the next leader who will take the reins.
