Tree Swinging and Cinder Block Slinging: Weirsdale Rooftop Antics Go Wrong

Man Falls Out of Tree, Lands in Jail After Cinder Block Rampage at Circle K

A man attempting to make headlines ended up making handcuffs his latest accessory after a chaotic Sunday night at the Weirsdale Circle K gas station.

Deputies say Alejandro Carlson took rooftop renovation to an extreme when he climbed atop the store at 13873 SE Highway 42 and began hurling cinder blocks at unsuspecting parked cars below. Witnesses reported hearing a commotion before looking outside to find Carlson in full demolition mode, with a 2017 Jeep SUV taking the brunt of his impromptu construction project. The vehicle’s owner, Rachel Elliot, estimated more than $5,000 in damage, which included a crushed windshield and a Jeep that now boasts an unexpected skylight.

When deputies arrived, they found Carlson mid-air—not from jumping, but from swinging on a tree like a scene out of a low-budget action film. He refused to come down, claiming he didn’t trust law enforcement or paramedics. Nature, however, had other plans. Carlson’s escape plan was cut short when he lost his grip and fell straight into custody.

Security footage could have captured the entire bizarre sequence, but unfortunately, Carlson reportedly made sure that wouldn’t happen—shaking a surveillance camera with such force that it became inoperable, racking up another $5,000 in damages.

Post-Miranda, Carlson admitted to his cinder block assault and even confessed to attempting to destroy a power transformer to “get the attention of the news.” He succeeded in that goal—just not in the way he had hoped.

After receiving medical treatment for his ill-fated tree stunt, Carlson was booked into the Marion County Jail on two counts of felony criminal mischief and resisting without violence.
