MCFR Battles Structure Fire in Summerfield
Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) responded to a structure fire late Tuesday night, April 2, 2025, in Summerfield, on SE 145th Street. The call came in at 11:40 p.m., with the 911 caller reporting a fire involving both a structure and a vehicle, with heavy flames visible.
Battalion Chief #3, along with Marion Oaks Station #24, arrived on scene at 11:51 p.m. to find a wood-framed, single-story building approximately 50% engulfed in flames, along with two trailers also ablaze. Firefighters from Engine #24 immediately deployed hose lines and initiated an offensive strategy to control the fire.
Additional units from Shady Station #16, Belleview Station #18, and Spruce Creek Station #30 soon arrived to assist in extinguishing the fire. While firefighters battled the blaze, rescue crews conducted primary and secondary searches of the structure, ensuring all areas were checked for potential victims. Meanwhile, Tower #2 crews performed vertical ventilation to improve conditions inside the building.
The fire was declared under control at 12:10 a.m. A civilian on scene sustained a minor burn to the hand, but no injuries were reported among firefighters. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.
