WATCH: Leaf It to Firefighters – Weirsdale Blaze Contained Before It Spread

MCFR Battles Blaze at Abandoned Weirsdale Mobile Home

At 1:09 p.m. on April 1, 2025, Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) units were dispatched to a fire at an abandoned mobile home in the 17000 block of SE 150th Avenue Road, Weirsdale. The 911 caller reported that burning leaves had sparked the fire.

Upon arrival at 1:15 p.m., firefighters from MCFR’s Weirsdale Station #27 found the mobile home fully engulfed in flames. The Villages of Marion Engine #10 quickly took command and launched a fierce attack on the fire. As the flames were fought back, rescue crews conducted thorough searches of the structure, finding no one inside.

Assistance arrived from Spruce Creek Station #30 and Belleview Station #18, helping bring the fire under control by 1:32 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the cause was ruled accidental.

A fiery reminder that even the smallest spark can start a blaze—just don’t let it be your backyard.
