Snack Attack: Man Arrested After Refusing to Pay for Circle K Munchies

Peanut Predicament Turns Violent at Marion County Circle K

A late-night snack turned into a full-blown confrontation at a Marion County Circle K on April 11, 2025, when Raemon Edward Polk was arrested after allegedly snacking on store items without paying—and resisting arrest with an unexpected side of violence.

The incident unfolded around 10:10 p.m. at the Circle K located at 3550 N US Highway 441. Polk was caught munching on nachos and sipping a drink without paying, a move that cost him a total of $5.35. When confronted by a store employee, Polk reportedly scoffed at the request to leave, telling the worker, “Call the cops.”

Moments later, law enforcement arrived on the scene to handle the uncooperative customer. As the officer approached, Polk casually exited the store, boiled peanuts in hand, claiming he was about to pay—but didn’t have his food stamp card with him. His refusal to cooperate led to escalating tensions, with Polk threatening the officer, saying, “I’ll beat your ass if you touch me.”

Despite being told he was being detained, Polk didn’t take kindly to the officer’s approach. After a brief verbal back-and-forth, he threatened the officer again, saying, “If I had a gun, I would shoot you with it.” At this point, backup arrived, and Polk was cuffed and placed into the patrol car.

However, the drama didn’t end there. Once at the Marion County Jail, Polk attempted to resist further, even kicking an officer’s leg during the walk to the intake area. With the help of additional deputies, Polk was successfully escorted inside.

In the end, Polk faces charges including retail petit theft (second offense), resisting with violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer. His snacking spree, worth $10.39, has now led to a much higher price—potential jail time.
