What started as a peaceful afternoon at Lake Lillian turned into chaos on April 23 when Belleview officers responded to reports of a nude toddler on the dock and a woman behaving erratically.
Belleview Police say Cheri Lee Rogers, 38, confronted a family enjoying the lake, tossed their fishing poles into the water, and even tried to throw their dog in for good measure. Officers found the toddler suffering from severe sunburn and dehydration after being left outside for hours.
Marion County Fire Rescue evaluated both Rogers and the child on scene, and the Department of Children and Families later took custody of the toddler. Rogers was arrested by Corporal Eaglen on charges of child neglect and petit theft and was transported to the Marion County Jail.
