Early Morning Fire Rips Through Silver Springs Home

A kitchen fire turned into a full-blown inferno early Monday morning, gutting a Silver Springs mobile home and prompting a multi-station firefighting response.

Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched at 1:02 a.m. to the 5600 block of NE 165th Terrace Road after a neighbor called 911 to report the blaze. Battalion Chief #2 arrived minutes later to find the home 75% engulfed in flames.

Crews from East Marion Station #4 were first in with hoses drawn, launching an offensive attack. Backup soon arrived from Salt Springs, Anthony, Rolling Greens, and Fort McCoy, as firefighters swarmed the scene.
The residents managed to escape the burning home on their own. No injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters. The fire was brought under control at 1:53 a.m.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
