Two Belleview Dixie Girls Softball teams are heading to the 2025 Dixie Softball World Series in Ruston, Louisiana, from July 25 to July 30, 2025.
The Florida All-Stars SweeTees (6 and under), the youngest, and the Florida All-Stars Debs (19 and under), the oldest girls to play, are our hometown heroes. Both teams won the 2025 Dixie Softball State Tournament, which was held Friday, June 27, to Sunday, June 29, 2025, right here at the Belleview Sportsplex.
The teams have been holding local fundraisers to help cover travel, hotel, and other expenses associated with the trip to Louisiana.
The Belleview Fraternal Order of the Eagles heard about the girls’ impressive wins and wanted to do something special. The Belleview Eagles believe in “people helping people.” Julie Ruetz, an Eagles trustee, contacted the teams’ coaches and, along with Monica Smith, the Eagles treasurer, arranged to give both teams a $500 check to help with their trip to the 2025 Dixie Softball World Series.
On Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., the Eagles’ Julie Ruetz (trustee), Phyllis Houffstetter (president), and Dona Zeffery (secretary) landed at Field 11 at the Belleview Sportsplex to present the teams with their generous donation.
The Florida All-Stars SweeTees and Debs are the only two teams from Florida competing in their respective age groups.
The teams are continuing to fundraise. You can support the girls on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Paste Faire in Belleview during their bake sale from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Publix on Hwy 40 E in Ocala, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., during their Helmet Drive.
The Belleview Fraternal Order of the Eagles, located on Hwy 25 next to Operation Shoebox, hosts Taco Tuesday every week from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
