Slugger in a Standoff: Bat-Wielding Man Busted in Mobile Home Melee

A Sunday morning money dispute turned violent when a man allegedly brought a baseball bat to a debt collection.

Deputies say Antwan Scott struck another man with the bat outside a mobile home in Pine Grove Mobile Home Park after demanding repayment of $250 he claimed was owed.

According to the sheriff’s office, Scott entered the victim’s home wielding a blue-and-white bat and yelling about the missing cash. The victim fled outside to call 911, but deputies say Scott followed and delivered an overhead swing to the man’s back before continuing to shout in the front yard.

When deputies arrived, they reportedly found Scott still yelling and refusing to comply with orders. After resisting efforts to detain him, he was eventually taken to the ground and cuffed.

The victim suffered a red mark near his spine consistent with the reported blow. A witness corroborated parts of the incident, stating Scott had barged into the bedroom with the bat in hand.

Scott was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting without violence. Due to the felony battery charge, he is being held without bond.
