Over the years, Souls Harbor First Pentecostal Church has grown. The church was founded in Belleview in 1941, and since that time it has changed a great deal. On Sunday, August 31, 2025, Souls Harbor held a groundbreaking ceremony at its church grounds at 12650 SE Hwy 484 in Belleview, which now span nearly 30 acres.
The newest addition will be a 46,000-square-foot Worship Center that will seat 1,500 parishioners between floor and stadium seating. It will feature a large lobby with daily activities, including a café, a Kids Zone, and open common areas. The project also includes 100 parking spaces with direct access from Hwy 484.
Souls Harbor recently acquired the former Taylor College facility, which is now used as part of their private school. That campus houses grades PK through 6, while the original school serves grades 7 through 12. The existing Worship Center will continue to be used for multiple purposes.

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, during the Souls Harbor First Pentecostal Church groundbreaking ceremony, Bishop James Varnum shared the details of a heavenly vision he experienced in 1972 at 18 years old. The new Worship Center will seat 1,500 parishioners.

Pastor Jason Varnum stood next to his wife, Hollina Varnum, as she read a verse explaining how building something big begins with something small, like a shovel, during the groundbreaking ceremony held recently at Souls Harbor First Pentecostal Church.

Some of the important people who made this day possible include Trustee Mike Wicker, Trustee Leonard Burrows, Trustee Allen Weekley, Pastor Donald Currie, Bishop James Varnum, Pastor Jason Varnum, Pastor Daniel Autrey, Pastor Donald Ellis, Contractor Scott Mulholland, Waterproofing Consultant Scott Mulholland Jr., and Senior Project Engineer Colin Lasch, along with their wives.
