Domestic Battery by Strangulation
On 8/29/2025, Joshua Beckett (W/M 7/19/1986) committed the listed offense against the victim by strangling her with his hands, restricting her ability to breathe and causing multiple physical injuries. Cpl. Hunt later located and arrested Beckett without incident.
Grand Theft
On 8/29/2025, at 10775 S US Hwy 441 (Dollar General), an unidentified black male committed the listed offense by manipulating two fraudulent transactions to receive approximately $988 in a digital refund.
Unregistered Motor Vehicle
On 8/30/2025, at the 10100 block of SE 47th Avenue, while stationary in an adjacent parking lot, Cpl. Hunt observed a truck pulling a trailer with no license plate and no working lights. Cpl. Hunt observed the truck stop in the roadway multiple times and approached on foot to conduct a traffic stop. Cpl. Hunt spoke with the driver, Frederick Lecorn (B/M 1/30/1966), who advised he had just realized he didn’t have a tag on his trailer and asked to turn around and go home. Lecorn could not provide any registration documents for the trailer. Cpl. Hunt issued Lecorn a criminal citation.
DUI Property Damage
On 8/30/2025, at the 5000 block of SE Abshier Blvd, Sgt. Esquivel observed a dark-colored sedan traveling at an extremely high rate of speed on SE Abshier Blvd. When she caught up to the vehicle, she found it had crashed into a road sign and come to a stop in the turn lane at SE 110th Street. Sgt. Esquivel spoke with the driver, Dawson Cook (W/M 11/29/2001), and immediately observed signs of impairment. Cook performed field sobriety exercises and was subsequently placed under arrest. Sgt. Esquivel transported Cook to the Marion County Jail, where he provided a breath sample of 0.216 and 0.215 g/210L.

On 9/1/2025, at SE 62nd Avenue and SE 112th Street, an adult female was placed under a Baker Act after expressing suicidal ideations.

On 8/29/2025, at approximately 2:05 a.m. at SE Lillian Circle, an adult female was placed under a Baker Act subsequent to a suicide attempt.
Child Abuse
On 8/26/2025, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., Lawrence Apicella (W/M 7/25/1987) committed child abuse by battering a juvenile male with a power cord. Apicella was arrested.

On 8/28/2025, at approximately 12:06 a.m., a black female juvenile was placed under a Baker Act.
Retail Petit Theft
On 8/28/2025, at approximately 7:37 a.m. at 11310 S US Hwy 301 (Winn-Dixie), an unknown white male entered the store and stole three 12-packs of Simply Spiked Seltzer totaling approximately $70.47.
All Other Larceny
Investigation revealed that on 8/27/2025, at SE 102nd Place, an unknown person(s) committed the offense of petit theft by taking two trailer ramps valued at $500.00 belonging to the victim.

On 8/28/2025, at approximately 10:26 p.m. at 5305 SE Abshier Blvd (RaceTrac), Joshua R. Wolfe (W/M 8/29/1991) was issued a trespass warning from the business due to refusing to leave when requested by management.
