Sheriff’s Office: Woman Reports Bottle Attack, Threats at South Pine Motel

An Ocala man is being held without bond following two separate domestic-related arrests stemming from incidents reported at a South Pine Avenue motel earlier this month, according to arrest affidavits from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Tevin Dion Mozell, 32, at The Pine, located at 3340 S. Pine Ave., Room 230, shortly after midnight on November 23. The arrest followed a series of allegations made by his live-in girlfriend, who reported multiple violent confrontations over a period of several weeks.

Incident Reported From Early November

In the first affidavit, deputies said the victim disclosed an unreported incident that occurred a few days after Halloween and prior to November 11. During what she described as a date night, Mozell allegedly brought her back to the room after picking her up from work. An argument began over accusations of infidelity.

According to the affidavit, the victim told deputies that Mozell threatened to “hit her with a bottle like her ex did,” then struck her in the head with a Grey Goose liquor bottle. She stated she fought back, saying she “did not want to die” and that Mozell would have visible scratch marks on his neck from the struggle.

A friend of the victim later confirmed receiving photos of her injuries on November 11. Deputies observed a scar above her left eyebrow and residual bruising that had not fully healed.

Mozell denied any physical confrontation and claimed he did not know the victim had a black eye. He was charged in that case with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (domestic), a felony.

November 22 Disturbance Leads to Additional Arrests

Hours before Mozell’s arrest, deputies responded again to the same motel for a reported verbal disturbance. The victim told deputies she was attempting to pack her belongings and leave with her two children while Mozell was gone purchasing alcohol. When he returned, an argument broke out.

The victim reported that Mozell raised a glass liquor bottle above his head and threatened to strike her, causing her to fear another attack, as she said he had assaulted her earlier in the month. During the confrontation, Mozell allegedly shoved a storage bin in her direction, brushing her face.

According to the affidavit, the situation escalated when Mozell later made a call in which he threatened to kill her and her sleeping children. Deputies said the victim hid in the bathroom after hearing the threat.

Text messages provided to deputies also showed threatening language, including an incoming message stating, “Bruh I’ll beat the [expletive] outta you keep [expletive] trying me Meghan.”

After detaining Mozell, deputies confirmed the threatening messages came from his phone.

The victim also reported discovering her computer monitor smashed inside the room, with an estimated value of $300.

Mozell was charged in the second case with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, written threats to kill or do bodily harm, and criminal mischief between $200–$1,000. All charges carried no bond at the time of booking.

Prior Criminal History

Deputies noted in the affidavit that Mozell has a prior conviction for written threats to kill and aggravated stalking, adjudicated in December 2021.

SHIELD Request

Due to the nature of the allegations and multiple threats made toward the victim and children, deputies requested Mozell be placed in the SHIELD monitoring program should a bond ever be issued in the future.

Mozell was taken to the Marion County Jail without incident following both arrests.
