A Summerfield man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say a woman was sexually battered at his residence and a subsequent search uncovered firearms, ammunition, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence on SE 100th Avenue in Summerfield in the early hours of January 21 after a woman reported she had been sexually assaulted the previous night.
The woman told investigators she had spent most of the day with Craig Cebert and became ill after the two returned to his home. She said she went into the bathroom to vomit, where Cebert entered, shoved her against a wall and digitally penetrated her. She reported that she repeatedly told him to stop.
The victim said Cebert then called in a roommate, identified as Tyrone Terry, and the two men carried her into a bedroom. According to the report, Terry held her arms down. The victim said the assault lasted close to an hour and caused severe pain.
After leaving the residence, the woman attempted to contact multiple people for help and sent messages stating she had been raped. Investigators later reviewed those messages, which included a screenshot of her location at the Summerfield address.
The victim was transported to the Sexual Assault Center, where a SANE exam was conducted.
Cebert was taken into custody later that morning and transported to the Criminal Investigations Division. During an interview with detectives, he did not deny the sexual assault allegations and instead characterized the victim as “dramatic,” according to the affidavit.
Terry was also arrested after initially locking himself inside the residence and refusing to come out.
A search warrant was executed at the home later that day. Detectives reported finding multiple firearms, including a Smith & Wesson revolver, a Taurus 9mm handgun and a semi-automatic pistol, along with large quantities of ammunition throughout the house.
Investigators also located two plastic bags containing a white powder that tested positive for fentanyl, a glass pipe with residue, and a wallet containing cash and a debit card belonging to Cebert.
Detectives noted that Cebert is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Based on the investigation, Cebert was charged with sexual battery without force, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held without bond at the Marion County Jail pending his first court appearance.
The case remains under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
