County Commissioners Put Brakes on CR 484 Food Truck Plan

Marion County officials denied a request to build a food truck park on County Road 484 after significant opposition from area residents, the Marion County Board of County Commissioners voted on February 17.

The proposal, known as the Marion Central Market, called for development of a food truck park on a 2.02-acre vacant parcel along SE Highway 484 in Belleview, just east of the Dollar General store. According to the conceptual site plan, the market would have accommodated up to 24 food trucks around a central open-air pavilion.

In the weeks leading up to the meeting, more than 100 residents signed a petition opposing the project, citing concerns about how it would fit with the surrounding area.

The Board of County Commissioners voted to deny the special use permit required for the project. The decision effectively ends plans for the food truck park at that specific location.
