Fatal Crash Claims Another Life on CR 42 near 105th Avenue

A fatal crash Friday afternoon claimed the life of a South Florida woman at a stretch of County Road 42 that local residents have long described as troublesome.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. on County Road 42 east of Southeast 105th Avenue. A pickup truck driven by a 46 year old Ocklawaha man was traveling westbound while a sport utility vehicle driven by a 51 year old Boynton Beach woman was traveling eastbound.

Troopers said the pickup entered the eastbound lane for unknown reasons and collided head on with the SUV. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

For many residents, the tragedy adds another name to the list of serious crashes that have occurred along County Road 42 near the intersection with Southeast 105th Avenue. The corridor serves as a major east-west route through southern Marion County.

Friday’s crash temporarily closed the roadway as investigators worked the scene.
