Ocklawaha Mobile Home Destroyed by Fire

Firefighters from multiple Marion County Fire Rescue stations responded Sunday afternoon after a mobile home caught fire in Ocklawaha.

At approximately 2:58 p.m. on July 12, crews were dispatched to the 17000 block of SE 87th Street after multiple callers reported seeing heavy black smoke and flames coming from a residential structure.

When Battalion 2 arrived on scene at 3:10 p.m., firefighters found the mobile home heavily involved in fire. Crews from Station 4 immediately launched an aggressive attack on the flames while simultaneously conducting a primary search of the home to ensure no one was inside.

Firefighters also deployed additional hose lines to protect nearby homes from the spreading fire as additional personnel arrived to assist. Support came from South Forest Station 6, Silver Springs Shores Station 17, Electra Station 26, Weirsdale Station 27, and Spruce Creek Station 30.

The fire was brought under control by 3:17 p.m.

No civilians or firefighters were injured.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
