Marion Man Killed While Clearing Tree from CR-329 Roadway

A 42-year-old Micanopy man was killed Monday afternoon after a southbound vehicle struck a tree he was cutting from the roadway on County Road 329 north of County Road 320, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. Troopers said the man was standing on or near the white edge line of the roadway using a chainsaw to cut a felled tree when a southbound sedan struck both the tree and the pedestrian. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 76-year-old Micanopy man, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was wearing a seat belt, according to FHP. No passengers were reported in the vehicle.

Florida Highway Patrol traffic homicide investigators responded to the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
