(Photos: Marion County Fire Rescue) – The Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) responded to a significant barn fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning. At 3:05 a.m., units were dispatched to the 9000 block of NW 200th Street Road following a 911 call reporting a large workshop fire that had spread to adjacent sheds and ignited nearby trees.
The first unit, Orange Lake Engine #9, arrived on the scene at 3:17 a.m., quickly establishing command and requesting additional resources. Firefighters immediately deployed hose lines to protect the main residence, a large propane tank, and other nearby structures.
Reinforcements arrived from Citra Station #2, Sparr Station #19, Fort McCoy Station #7, and Anthony Station #2 to support the efforts. Battalion Chief #1 took command upon arrival, coordinating the firefighting operations. Engine #2 connected to Engine #9 to establish a continuous water supply, which was later bolstered by two additional tankers.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the multiple units, the fire was brought under control by 3:43 a.m. An off-duty MCFR firefighter was evaluated for injuries by the Critical Care Transport team but declined further treatment. No other injuries were reported among the firefighters on the scene.
The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the MCFR Fire Marshal and State Fire Marshal investigators.
