Letter to the Editor – Sarah Almeida Dennis: Your Neighbor, Your Voice, Your Commissioner

My Dear Fellow Marion County Residents,

Great news Folks! Our lifelong Marion County resident and neighbor, SARAH ALMEIDA DENNIS, will be on the ballot come August 20, 2024, to represent us, ‘We the People’, on the Marion County Commissioners Board. NOTE: Early voting starts August 10 – 17! PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS and get out to VOTE early and bring your neighbors and friends!

Briefly for background purposes, Sarah is and has been deeply invested in the well-being of our community here in Marion County for decades. Sarah has a personal stake in the future of Marion County, where she was born and raised. Sarah is a wife, parent and grandparent. She has a deep faith-family-focused perspective, which underscores her dedication to creating a safe, prosperous environment for generations to come. Her motto is “Marion County is my homeland and it’s in me to stand up and run to serve and protect her.”

As a candidate, Sarah Almeida Dennis is uniquely positioned to represent us and will steer Marion County in the right direction. In an age when everyone complains on social media, our neighbor, Sarah, has decided to take action and to run for County Commissioner. Sarah is running for this office to serve us, her neighbors and restore the traditional values that once made Marion County such a great place to grow up and raise a family.

Sarah is NOT your typical career politician. In fact, she is NOT a politician at all. Sarah has never held public office and in this unfortunate age, many would agree that’s probably a good thing. Without any established political connections or affiliations, Sarah feels a greater sense of accountability to the public. She will be more responsive to the needs and concerns of the community. She comes with zero political baggage and no entanglements or influence from special interests.

Sarah Almeida Dennis is dedicated to slowing overgrowth and development in Marion County to create a safe and prosperous environment for families and children. Her goal is to maintain the unique charm of our community while addressing infrastructure needs and ensuring that our schools, roads, including both fire and police staff/stations, and hospitals can accommodate our current population and future growth responsibly.

With Sarah’s leadership, we can address longstanding deficiencies and build a stronger foundation for our community’s future. I witnessed firsthand a day long Marion County Commissioners Meeting on April 22 relative to an apartment complex next to a Senior Community. If we had Sarah as one of our Marion County Commissioners, I firmly believe that a fair discussion would have occurred that would have benefited the residences instead of the developer.

Fiscal responsibility is another chief objective of Sarah’s campaign. With conservative values and a keen eye for prudent spending, she pledges to safeguard taxpayer dollars and prioritize essential services.

Additionally, Sarah advocates for the commissioners to stay with their promise of the new animal shelter by the end of 2025. This cause is close to the hearts of many Marion County residents. By championing animal welfare, she demonstrates compassion, keeping promises made to Residents/Taxpayers – which are qualities essential for effective leadership!

Furthermore, having attended several events where Sarah was speaking, she advocated for the idea of term limits. Music to our ears to hear a candidate broach this important subject.

Please join me to support a much-needed candidate, Sarah Almeida Dennis, on the Marion County Commissioners Board. She’s a true warrior and fighter of common sense and honesty in our government. Plus, Sarah knows she will be working for us, the Taxpayers, as our constitution was framed by our Founders.

Most Sincerely,

Jeannette Poe, Retired Marion County Resident
