Suspicious Throw Leads to Cocaine and Marijuana Bust
In a dramatic twist straight out of a crime show, a suspicious vehicle call on July 7, 2024, led Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy R. Bailey to a surprising discovery. Upon arriving at 2489 NW 63rd St. in Ocala, Deputy Bailey spotted Corenzo Florence casually walking away from the driver’s side of a vehicle, only to see him fling two items towards a nearby fence.
Displaying the calm demeanor of someone who just remembered they left the oven on, Florence nonchalantly tried to stroll away, insisting he had done nothing wrong. However, his cool composure didn’t last long as Deputy Bailey, after a brief verbal tango, directed him to stay put by his vehicle.
A quick search revealed what Florence had so discreetly discarded: a baggie of marijuana and another of cocaine, both strategically tossed near the fence. Florence’s attempt to escape suspicion proved futile as these items were exactly where Deputy Bailey had seen him throw them.
The defendant was promptly cuffed and placed in the patrol car. After being read his Miranda rights, Florence opted for silence. But the drive to Marion County Jail must have sparked a change of heart, as he spontaneously admitted, “I’m sorry” and confessed to having “really messed up.”
Florence now faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia. It turns out, tossing evidence isn’t as inconspicuous as it seems.
