Quick work by Marion County Fire Rescue kept a Monday afternoon fire from turning into a full-blown inferno at Dave’s Towing on U.S. 441 in Belleview.
Crews were dispatched around 2:16 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported flames inside the garage. Battalion Chief #3 was first on scene and took command, directing teams from Belleview Station #18, Spruce Creek Station #30, Rolling Greens Station #28, and Shady Station #16.
Firefighters launched an aggressive attack, bringing the blaze under control by 2:35 p.m. No injuries were reported, but the garage took the brunt of the damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the MCFR Fire Marshal’s Office.
For now, Dave’s Towing lives to tow another day.
