A warrant check in a Summerfield neighborhood turned into an unusual pursuit when a woman accused of robbery allegedly drove across a golf course, crashed into bushes and then tried to outrun deputies on foot.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, deputies went to a home on SE 174th Loop to locate 67-year-old Karlene Jennifer Moncrieffe Boyer, who reportedly had an active robbery warrant. When deputies spotted a white Honda CR-V leaving the area, the driver allegedly cut through residential property and onto a nearby golf course in an attempt to avoid law enforcement.
Deputies activated their emergency lights and sirens, but investigators say the SUV continued through nearby streets before returning to the golf course, where it crashed into bushes and came to a stop. The driver then allegedly fled on foot across the course before deputies caught up with her.
The affidavit states Boyer resisted as deputies attempted to take her into custody by pulling away, but she was eventually handcuffed without further incident.
Boyer was arrested on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer with lights and sirens activated, resisting an officer without violence, and was also taken into custody on the outstanding robbery warrant
