The senior class at Souls Harbor Christian Academy (SHCA) recently participated in a prestigious ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, a tradition that has been part of the school’s senior trips for nearly 30 years. This year, the students were tasked with submitting a written essay and video presentation focused on the history and significance of Arlington.
The entries were reviewed by a panel of three business professionals, and the four highest-scoring students were chosen to participate.
Only four students had the opportunity to stand at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and place a wreath, a symbolic act of respect for fallen soldiers. Ethan Craig, who ranked first, was honored with the task of placing the wreath alongside Olivia Currie, the second-place winner. Westi Malone and Caleb Goodman, who finished third and fourth, were also selected to take part in the ceremony.
For SHCA, this experience is a testament to the school’s commitment to providing students with meaningful, life-changing opportunities. The Curries, who have led these trips for nearly three decades, continue to offer students experiences that go beyond the classroom and into the heart of American history.
The ceremony was a moment of reflection and pride, capturing the essence of what it means to honor those who have sacrificed for the country.
