St. Theresa Catholic Church Honored for Community Service

The City of Belleview has formally recognized St. Theresa Catholic Church for a week of dedicated community service that brought both visible improvements and heartfelt appreciation across the city.

During the final week of July, dozens of volunteers from St. Theresa’s congregation rolled up their sleeves and completed a variety of hands-on projects to support city workers, beautify public spaces, and honor local veterans.

Among the acts of service:

Volunteers prepared and delivered care packages to the City’s Public Works Department. In the midst of a sweltering Florida summer, workers received bottled water, granola bars, hand-written thank-you notes, and sweet treats—a small gesture that offered both refreshment and recognition.

The corner entrance to Belleview City Hall was refreshed with new shrubs and greenery, giving the property a boost in both appearance and warmth.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in front of City Hall was carefully cleaned, preserving the dignity of the space and paying tribute to those who served.

Sidewalks and public spaces along U.S. Highway 441/27 were pressure-washed and cleared of debris, improving safety and aesthetics for pedestrians and passersby.

“The level of care and community spirit shown by St. Theresa’s volunteers has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Mariah Moody, Belleview City Administrator. “Their actions not only enhanced our physical environment—they lifted the spirits of our staff.”

Robert Vass, the City’s Events and Promotions Manager, added, “This is what community looks like. As the new landscaping takes root, it stands as a symbol of the lasting impact these volunteers have made.”

The City of Belleview extended its deepest thanks to St. Theresa Catholic Church, commending the parish for its servant leadership and continued efforts to build a stronger, more connected community.
